Doolittle Institute, on behalf of the Air Force Research Lab Munitions Directorate (AFRL/RW), is seeking industry partners who are developing novel technologies and solutions to increase weapon range and production rates.
Specific capabilities sought include:
- Solid rocket motor and air breathing propulsion technologies which can enable an increase weapon range.
- Manufacturing processes for propulsion systems which allow for increase in production rate, as well as allow for rapid ramp-up in production rate.
- Advances in other (non-propulsion) weapon component technology that can enable increase in weapon range.
- Industry observations and suggestions to overcome supply chain limitations driving the long lead time for weapon propulsion production.
- Trades that can be made in propulsion variability, reliability and/or performance to support increased weapon range and production rate.
Participants are welcome to submit novel, early stage technology, however, AFRL/RW is primarily interested in technology that can be feasibly matured to TRL 6 in 3-5 years.
Interested parties are encouraged to submit a one-page summary of their solution or technology that addresses the following:
- Characterization of technology and/or processes for focused change.
- Characterization of anticipated increase in propulsion capability and/or production rate due to proposed change in technology and manufacturing processes.
- Observations and suggestions to overcome any supply chain limitations driving the long lead time for weapon propulsion production.
- Rough order magnitude costs to enable notional identified changes.
- Roadmap of anticipated R&D activities and opportunities for government collaboration to develop the technology.
AFRL/RW will down select submissions based on the one-page summary and will request additional technical information from successful offerors. Successful offerors may be invited to present their solutions in-person at the Weapons S&T Summit to be held on October 7-8 at the Doolittle Institute facility in Niceville, FL.
Submissions should be emailed to the following individuals no later than Monday, September 23 at 1700 Central Time:
- Mr. John Haynes
Email: john.haynes.21.ctr@us.af.mil
Tel: 850-883-6653
2. Mr. Rob Campbell
Email: robert.campbell.32.ctr@us.af.mil
Tel: 850-882-8876
Please do not make travel plans until you are notified that your solution was selected by AFRL/RW.
