The goal is to identify material systems and production approaches capable of surviving the extreme thermo‑mechanical environment of hypersonic flight while supporting affordable large‑scale manufacturing of 3‑D radome nose cones. Submitting your capabilities positions your organization for consideration in future collaboration or funding opportunities aligned with AFRL needs. \nThis Call for Interest is intended to identify relevant capabilities and better understand the current technology landscape. Information submitted will be used to inform potential future showcase and collaboration activities. \n\nTechnologies of Interest \nResponses should address the following technical challenges using publicly releasable data where available. \n\nExtreme Thermal Management –Material systems capable of maintaining structural and electromagnetic integrity at temperatures exceeding 900°C (~1600°F). Please describe the proposed solutions resistance to thermal shock during rapid temperature changes and ability to maintain stable electromagnetic properties across a broad range of temperatures.\nStable Electromagnetic (EM) Performance – Solutions that achieve stable dielectric constants and loss tangents across a wide frequency band and the full range of operational temperatures. Respondents are encouraged to provide available data on dielectric properties as a function of temperature.\nStructural Integrity & Aerodynamic Shape Stability –Materials and manufacturing processes that can produce and maintain complex aerodynamic shapes (e.g.\, ogive\, tangent ogive) with a build volume larger than 200 in3 under severe aerodynamic pressure and vibroacoustic loads without degradation.\nEnvironmental Durability – Resistance to erosion from rain\, ice\, dust\, and other particulates. Responses should describe any specialized coatings or surface treatments used to enhance durability.\n\n\nManufacturing & Producibility\nA primary objective of this effort is to identify solutions that are viable for mass production. Responses should explicitly detail how the proposed approach enables scalability\, affordability\, and high-yield manufacturing. Information provided in this section will inform down-selection for invitation to the hybridTech Showcase. \nInformation is requested in the following areas: \n\nScalable Manufacturing Techniques\nSupply Chain and Material Availability\nCost Models\nNon-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Techniques\n\nFor complete manufacturing and inspection details\, visit: DI Tech Showcase – Radomes-RFI_for-Public-Release_pdf \n\nWho Should Submit\nOpportunities for future collaboration and funding may be informed by the outcomes of this Tech Showcase. \nThis Tech Showcase is intended for organizations with relevant capabilities in advanced materials\, manufacturing processes\, and technologies for RF-transparent radomes. SUMMARY:AeroCoast FIRST Tech Challenge 2025-2026 AGE Season Dates
DESCRIPTION:ABOUT FIRST\nThe Doolittle Institute proudly manages the FIRST® LEGO® League programs and the FIRST® Tech Challenge AeroCoast League for Northwest Florida. These hands-on programs and competitions inspire creativity\, teamwork\, and problem-solving\, preparing today’s students for tomorrow’s STEM workforce. \nFIRST LEGO League Challenge is an exciting\, high-energy event where student teams showcase months of hard work in STEM\, teamwork\, and innovation. The day typically begins with a team check-in and setup\, followed by a series of judged sessions where teams present their Innovation Project\, demonstrate their Core Values\, and explain their robot design. The highlight of the day is the robot game\, where teams compete in timed matches on a themed playing field\, using LEGO Spike Prime Robots they’ve designed and programmed to complete missions. Throughout the event\, teams are encouraged to collaborate\, cheer each other on\, and embody the spirit of Gracious Professionalism®. The day ends with an awards ceremony celebrating creativity\, perseverance\, and engineering excellence. This year’s theme\, #Unearthed\, challenges teams to identify a problem faced by archaeologists and propose a solution to help address it. \nFIRST Tech Challenges is an action-packed experience where middle and high school teams put their engineering\, programming\, and teamwork skills to the test. The day begins with team check-ins and robot inspections to ensure compliance with game rules. The heart of the event is the robot matches\, where alliances of two teams each compete in a dynamic\, head-to-head game on a 12’x12’ field. Teams must strategize\, adapt\, and collaborate in real time. Between matches\, teams scout other robots\, make repairs\, and refine code.  Locally\, here in the AeroCoast\, we have 25 teams this season competing in the DECODE theme. \nInterested in Volunteer Opportunities?
