SUMMARY:Weapons Science & Technology (S&T) Summit
DESCRIPTION:Doolittle Institute\, on behalf of the Air Force Research Lab Air Warfare Directorate (AFRL/RA)\, is seeking industry partners who are developing novel technologies and solutions to increase weapon range and production rates. \nSpecific capabilities sought include: \n\nSolid rocket motor and air breathing propulsion technologies which can enable an increase weapon range.\nManufacturing processes for propulsion systems which allow for increase in production rate\, as well as allow for rapid ramp-up in production rate.\nAdvances in other (non-propulsion) weapon component technology that can enable increase in weapon range.\nIndustry observations and suggestions to overcome supply chain limitations driving the long lead time for weapon propulsion production.\nTrades that can be made in propulsion variability\, reliability and/or performance to support increased weapon range and production rate.\n\nParticipants are welcome to submit novel\, early stage technology\, however\, AFRL/RA is primarily interested in technology that can be feasibly matured to TRL 6 in 3-5 years. \nInterested parties are encouraged to submit a one-page summary of their solution or technology that addresses the following: \n\nCharacterization of technology and/or processes for focused change.\nCharacterization of anticipated increase in propulsion capability and/or production rate due to proposed change in technology and manufacturing processes.\nObservations and suggestions to overcome any supply chain limitations driving the long lead time for weapon propulsion production.\nRough order magnitude costs to enable notional identified changes.\nRoadmap of anticipated R&D activities and opportunities for government collaboration to develop the technology.\n\nAFRL/RA will down select submissions based on the one-page summary and will request additional technical information from successful offerors. Successful offerors may be invited to present their solutions in-person at the Weapons S&T Summit to be held on October 7-8 at the Doolittle Institute facility in Niceville\, FL. \nSubmissions should be emailed to the following individuals no later than Monday\, September 23 at 1700 Central Time: \n\nMr. John Haynes\n\nEmail: john.haynes.21.ctr@us.af.mil \nTel: 850-883-6653 \n2. Mr. Rob Campbell \nEmail: robert.campbell.32.ctr@us.af.mil \nTel: 850-882-8876 \nPlease do not make travel plans until you are notified that your solution was selected by AFRL/RA. \nFor full event and RFI details visit: https://sam.gov/opp/2ea0dc8c259b4d298100a9f47d312084/view

SUMMARY:Ordnance Concepts Industry Day
DESCRIPTION:The Air Force Research Lab Air Warfare Directorate (AFRL/RA) Ordnance Branch\, in collaboration with the Doolittle Institute and AFLCMC/EB\, is hosting an Industry Day to explore partnership opportunities for transitioning an Advanced Additive Manufactured Ordnance with Universal Fuzing Concepts into production. This event is designed to engage small businesses\, industry partners\, and SMEs who are interested in supporting the development of systems that meet the evolving needs of AFLCMC/EB. \nOverview:  \nIt will showcase the preliminary technical design of the Blast-effect Additive eNabled Technology for Advanced Munitions (BANTAM) Ordnance system\, which features a universal fuzing architecture. We are actively seeking industry stakeholders and subject matter experts in ordnance systems to collaborate on the next stages of development\, testing\, prototyping\, and manufacturing. \nParticipants will gain valuable insights into AFRL/RA’s latest innovations and have the chance to partner in the commercialization and production of novel warhead and fuze system concepts. These concepts align with emerging AFLCMC/EB requirements\, providing a pathway for industry partners to engage in high-impact projects with the potential for future opportunities. \nDate: 16-17 October 2024 \nAgenda: \nThis event will be hybrid\, allowing for both in-person and virtual participants. \nThe morning session will include presentations by government representatives\, who will provide technical and programmatic insights into the BANTAM system\, covering key components such as warheads\, explosives\, and fuzes. Additionally\, potential partnership opportunities within AFLCMC/EB programs will be highlighted. \nIn the afternoon and on the second day (as necessary)\, there will be invite-only one-on-one meetings with companies to discuss potential collaborations in more detail. Please identify if you are interested in one-on-one meeting when registering. Companies with the capability and interest in fuze\, explosive\, warhead production\, ordnance integration\, or integrated munition system production are strongly encouraged to attend. Follow-up discussions and opportunities for ongoing collaboration will continue beyond the event. \nWho Should Attend:  \n\nSmall businesses and industry partners with experience in ordnance systems and manufacturing.\n\n\nCompanies interested in transitioning advanced munitions technology into production.\n\n\nSMEs looking for collaboration opportunities in fuze\, warhead\, and explosive system development.\n\nAttendance at this event is limited\, and interested parties are required to submit a request to attend via the following link: https://forms.office.com/r/43cTRgT2sy. \nThose selected to attend will be notified no later than October 10\, 2024\, and we recommend not making travel plans until you receive notification that your attendance is approved. \nFor questions please reach out to techtransfer@doolittleinstitute.org
